For all of the Halo:CE fans...

When I was growing up, I remembered an amusement park near my house. I went there a few times with my friends and found it a pretty fun place, but the 6 dollar entry fee started to add up. Soon I bought a lifetime pass for 50 bucks so I could go there all I wanted for free. I found out, that the more I went, the more addicted I got. The rides were so thrilling, especially the M6D. It was very intimidating though. It took me a while to work up enough guts to ride it, but when I finally did, it was the most fun I had ever had. I was really nauseated afterward, but it was worth it. Every time I went to the park, I would ride this coaster the most. There were still other fun ones too like the Plasma Freeze and the Shotty and some others that I would ride when I was too nauseated for the M6D. There was also a pink kiddy ride in the back that nobody dared venture near.

Then came some exciting news. The owners decided to expand their park, and instead of just adding on, they wanted to open up an entire new amusement park just down the road. Everyone was so thrilled. All of my friends and I bought our passes in advance to beat the rush on opening day. I even shelled out 5 extra bucks for a fast pass so I wouldn’t have to wait in line as long.

The long awaited Nov 9 finally came. The new park opened up on midnight so we could stay the whole night and not miss work the next day. We got to the park a couple hours early so that we could get a good place in line. When we finally made it in, it was like a dream come true. There were rides left and right. The park was monstrous. It was all so colorful and animated too. We had a blast riding all the new rides. By the time we left though, it had become kind of lackluster. I just thought it was because of lack of sleep so I vowed to come back and try again the coming weekend.

Saturday came and the place was packed. All the lines were extremely long. We tried out all the rides again and we found a few were satisfying, like the BR55 and the covy carbine, but there were no absolutely thrilling and nauseating rides like the M6D. Most of the rides resembled the pink ride in the back of the old park. Towards the end of the day, I met up with the park owner, who I knew quite well because of the old park, and I asked him what happened. I wanted to know why there weren’t any thrilling rides equal to that of the M6D. He told me that the new park was for the whole family, not just for thrill seekers. He didn’t want to build coasters that would make the younger children and the pregnant mothers sick. I thought amusement parks were for teenagers and young adults to begin with. There’s a reason you don’t let kids under the age of 18 into the park without an adult. He said that by making the park enjoyable for kids and grandparents alike, then he could make more money, and since there have been few complaints so far, that he wasn’t going to change it.

The next week, I went back to the old amusement park. It was rundown now, and there was barely a soul there. The owners didn’t spend any time fixing the park or upgrading it because they had the new one now. I still had fun riding the coasters with my friends, but the feeling just wasn’t the same. It wasn’t quite as fun without having the whole crowd there to enjoy it with you.

I am going to drive the truck, so the ride is covered, at least for a couple/few people. I haven't checked on the availability of tickets yet. If you are interested, let me know.

Star Wars to become new TV series

Two Star Wars TV series will follow the latest movie in the hit film franchise, director George Lucas has said.

Animated show Clone Wars, currently broadcast as three-minute episodes, will become "a 3D animated" series of 30-minute shows, he said.

It would be followed by a live-action series featuring characters from the six Star Wars movies, he added.

"We're probably not going to start that for about a year," he told a Star Wars convention in Indianapolis.

The latest Star Wars film, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, is released in most countries on 19 May.

The Clone Wars "micro-series" has had 25 three-minute episodes on Cartoon Network, taking the story up to Revenge of the Sith.

Mr Lucas told the Celebration III convention the live action TV series would be similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark spin-off The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

"Like on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, we want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once," he said.

"I'm going to get it started, and hire the show runners and all of that, then I'll probably step away."

He said the live action series would feature stories taking place between movie episodes three and four - Revenge of the Sith and the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

Lucas said he "never considered" extending the Stars Wars story beyond episode six - Return of the Jedi.

"To be very honest with you, I never ever thought of anything that happened beyond episode six," he said.

"It's the Darth Vader story. It starts with him being a young boy and it ends with him dying. I never ever really considered ever taking that particular story further."

Mr Lucas said the live action series would feature some existing Star Wars characters - but would not elaborate.

"There's a lot of issues that are connected, but you won't necessarily see a lot of the people that are connected," he said.

George Lucas has reportedly checked on Newton's availability to see if he's willing to join the cast of Star Wars to return as a TV series. In fact, Newton was even flown to Skywalker Ranch to test for the role.

Matthew Newton appeared in the movie "Queen of the Damned.” He met George Lucas when he auditioned to play a young adult Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones."

Newton, now 28, is believed to be the runner-up to Hayden Christensen, who evolved the the Anakin Skywalker character into Darth Vader.

Due in about a year [Spring 2006], the PlayStation 3 boasts an engine 35 times more powerful than the PlayStation 2, according to Sony. It will support up to seven wireless controllers and has outputs for two high-definition televisions (HDTVs).

Wireless controllers using Bluetooth technology will be standard. Sony said the system will support up to seven simultaneous players, a significant boost from the four standard today.

The PS3 will ship with a detachable 2.5-inch hard drive and will include slots for a number of consumer electronic digital storage devices, including Sony memory sticks, SD memory cards and compact flash cards.

In addition to playing games, it will allow users to access digital video and audio files, view digital pictures, offer video chat and allow users to access the Internet.

As with Microsoft's Xbox 360, online functionality will play an important role with the PS3. The system will ship with a built-in gigabit Ethernet port and can handle both types of wireless Internet access, 802.11b and 802.11g.
